Exemptions To The LMIA Fee For Caregivers

As of December 8, 2017, families seeking to hire a foreign caregiver to provide home care for individuals with medical needs are exempt from paying the Labour Market Impact Assessment application processing fee of $1,000.

Families with a gross annual income of $150,000 or less, seeking to hire a foreign caregiver to provide childcare in their home to a child under 13 years of age, also qualify for the processing fee exemption.  Families with a gross annual income over $150,000 must continue to pay the $1,000 processing fee.

If you need to hire a caregiver to provide care in your home for an individual with medical needs or for children under 13 but are unsure of the next steps, contact us for a consultation.  We will assess your current situation and provide information on the requirements of the program.
